On Sunday, June 13, 2021, Dr. C.C “Ted” Hagen peacefully passed away. He is survived by his wife, Lou, of 62 years; four children, Karen, Lucia, Don, and Michael; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two beloved miniature schnauzers and one Senegal parrot. A longtime Tampa Bay area resident, Ted grew up in Rochester, New York. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1950. A combat veteran of both the Vietnam and Korean wars, he is a Purple Heart recipient. After retiring as a gunnery sergeant in 1970, he earned his bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees from the University of South Florida. He worked closely with USF in the area of economic education for the Hillsborough County School System. After traveling extensively throughout the United States and abroad with his wife, he dedicated a portion of his retirement life to writing his memoir, "A Marines Tale," which can be read at www.amarinestale.com. His family will celebrate his life in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, Ted would appreciate donations in his name to be made to the Humane Society, Metropolitan Ministries or WEDU.
