Millie was born in 1929 in North Bergen, New Jersey, the daughter of Nancy and Sam Lateano. Her father was born in Italy and later came to the United States.
She grew up in North Bergen with her older brother, Tom Lateano, who later served in the United States Navy during World War II. Millie spent her early life in North Bergen, where she attended Union Hill High School and later worked for the North Bergen Board of Education as a clerk and handled payroll.
In 1951, Millie married Phil Lupi, a World War II Army Air Forces veteran. Together they raised their two sons, Philip and Richard, in North Bergen. In 1978, Millie and Phil left New Jersey and began a new chapter of their lives in Florida.
They shared 45 years of marriage until Phil’s death in 1996.
Family was always at the center of Millie’s life. She was the loving mother of Philip Lupi and his wife, Gloria, and Richard Lupi, whose wife, Jane, predeceased Millie. She was the proud grandmother of Christina, the daughter of Philip and Gloria, and Daniel, the son of Richard and Jane. She was also the beloved great-grandmother of Christina and her husband TJ’s daughter, Arabella. Millie was fortunate to watch her family grow through four generations and experience the joy of seeing her sons become fathers, her grandchildren grow, and her family continue into another generation.
In her later years, Millie could often be found working on a crossword puzzle or word-finder, pastimes she greatly enjoyed. She also enjoyed television, with Everybody Loves Raymond holding a special place among her favorite shows.
From her childhood in North Bergen to the many years she spent in Florida, Millie’s life was filled with family, memories, and the simple things she enjoyed. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
