She met the love of her life, John C. “Jack” Marscher Jr., on a blind date, while he was attending Georgia Tech and in the U.S. Navy. They married July 17, 1954. After living in Texas and Virginia, they settled in Clearwater in 1957 and started a family. The family spent many summers traveling to see relatives in Atlanta as well as an annual trip to Chimney Rock, NC.
As a stay-at-home mother, she was always volunteering at the schools her children attended. She even took on the role as a band booster mom with the Clearwater Tornado Marching band, watching her children perform during Friday night football games.
In retirement, she and Jack continued to travel and loved taking cruises to the Bahamas. Their favorite cruise was their 50th wedding anniversary cruise to Alaska. Their love of family lineage and history fostered into a lifetime hobby of genealogy, where they spent days learning about the lives of their ancestors. With their research, she and her daughter, Diane, became active members in the Clearwater Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
Following Jack’s death after 67 years of marriage, she moved into Cypress Palms of Largo. She made many new friends and enjoyed the numerous activities. The residents and staff nicknamed her the “Bingo Queen”.
Carolyn is predeceased by her husband, Jack and grandson, Nathan Richardson. She is survived by her son, Chris Marscher of Clearwater, daughter Diane (Bob) Richardson of Seminole, grandsons Daniel (Rachel) Marscher of Clearwater and Brad Richardson of Seminole and Great Granddaughter Josie Marscher of Clearwater.
