Christopher Chabina, 78, of Tarpon Springs, Florida, passed away on September 30, 2026. He was born on October 28, 1947, in Miami, Florida, to Alfred Chabina and Joan VanMalderen, both of whom preceded him in death.
Christopher began his career with Southern Bell Telco before moving on to AT&T, where he served as an Assistant Vice President (AVP). Following his retirement from AT&T, he continued working with Plantronics, Inc., before eventually enjoying a well-earned retirement.
Chris attended Catholic schools from kindergarten through 12th grade and later attended Miami Dade College. He was an avid sports fan, particularly devoted to the University of Miami Hurricanes. His career with Plantronics afforded him the opportunity to travel extensively, including trips to China. Of all his interests, fishing held a special place in his heart, especially when he could share the experience with his beloved son, Ryan.
In addition to his parents, Chris was preceded in death by his favorite cousin, Scott Anselmo.
He is survived by his children, his eldest daughter, Kelly Chabina Watkins (James), Emily Chabina and his son, Ryan Chabina. He also leaves behind his two granddaughters, who he loved dearly, Kayley and Madison, along with his newly found love and life partner of five years, Mary Hubbard-Giesz.
Chris's passing has left a hole in the hearts of many. He will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, his love of family, his passion for fishing and sports, and the countless memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him. His infectious smile, tenacious nature, and unmistakable sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park & Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m.
