Mr. Clyde H Ward
August 1, 1931 – March 25, 2020
Clyde H Ward was born in Live Oak Florida on August 1, 1931. His family moved to Clearwater , FL around 1939. His father passed away before he was born and his mother passed away when he was in his early teens. He learned his way through life with many ups and downs. At a young age he found security by entering the military knowing that he would have shelter and 3 meals a day. He spent time in Guam during the Korean war. The military took him all over the world during his enlisted time. He always loved to share the stories of his life over those years.
He settled back in Clearwater, FL when his time was up and During those first few years back he met a beautiful girl named Ethel Wells who later became his wife in on September 1955. They stayed in Clearwater and raised their family. Clyde operated a produce business in downtown Clearwater for over 40 years before retiring. Clyde was a lover of all things southern especially southern cooking. Collards and black eyed peas & cornbread were some of his favorites. He loved to hear a good joke and ALWAYS had one to tell. Cutting up with the guys was always something he enjoyed. Clyde was often misunderstood because of his tough exterior. He never forgot his roots and under that exterior was a Big heart always willing to lend a hand. Whether it was a bag of groceries or a bag of clothes his heart always led him to help those in need. He was a person who stayed true to his beliefs, whether right or wrong and touched many lives in his 88 years.
Clyde is survived by his wife Ethel Ward, his son Ed (AnnMarie), daughter Wanda Clark (Al). Grandchildren Albert, Allen, Katherine and Crystal. Great grandchildren Aiden, Dylan and Audrey. Sister Geraldine Hurst Knight. Clyde is predeceased by his father Edward Ward , his mother Daisy Mae Ward Hurst, his Sister's Edna Ward, Ellsie Mae Ward Lyles, Oleta Ward Howell, Evelyn Hurst Desoniers. Brother Ellis E. Our condolences to the Ward family. We are so sorry for the loss. One of our fondest memories we have of Mr. Ward is the way Molly girl had him trained. It was so much fun to watch Molly bark and bark until the garage door opened and Mr. Ward would get on his scooter with a bag of treats for her. Mr. Ward was also a friend to the squirrels in the neighborhood by feeding them peanuts. The squirrels would get so close to that garage we thought they might be moving in with them. Mr. Ward had a wonderful sense of humor and was always very kind to us! We still have not figured out how he did that amazing card trick! Mr. Ward will be missed by us and many others!
