My name is Dave Macomber.  I came to FSU basketball in 1966, and Darrel was a senior I believe.  I remember his smile and welcome to the squad. He was quiet and I always that he was kind to me.  He had a little grin when he looked at you. He was never “ better than you”, always an equal. He was always a heckava guard and I miss him even after all of these years.

Darrel was one of the finest people that I ever knew.  Although he was a couple of years ahead of me at FSU, he was always good to me and his quiet personality was always encouraging, especially for a freshman like me. He was a great ball player and never looked down on anyone.  Although we haven’t talked since college, his influence was always profound and helped me in later life and my career.  I shall miss him. Sorry to learn of Darrel’s passing. I played basketball with him at Florida State University. He was intense on the basketball floor in a good way and was one of the most soft spoken people I have ever met. My prayers and deepest condolences to his family and friends. 

Good morning:  I was saddened to hear recently that Darrell had passed.  We played basketball together at FSU, and although he was a year or so ahead of me, he was always kind and quiet, in a nice kind of way. I never heard him say a bad thing about anyone or critical in any way of things that other people did.  He was one of the nicest people that I ever met, and while over 50 years have passed, I still get a smile on my face when I think of him. May God bless you all, his family, his children, as he looks down from a better place.  I'll think of him often and share  a smile with him as I do.

Condolences to all of Darrel’s family.  So sorry for your loss, Darrel was such a great guy. We started first grade together and graduated together. He will be dearly missed

Jill and I are so sad to hear of Darrel's passing. He was such an intelligent and class individual as well as being a great athlete. We had many hours together on the golf course and I wish I would have seen him more in the last years. I will always regret that. We will meet again. With Love.

Darrell will be greatly missed by his many friends at McMullen Tennis Center.  His cheerful attitude and friendly consideration for others will long be remembered. Our group has lost a fine player and even finer person. Condolences to his family. 

I just learned of the sad news. I'm speechless, he was a great friend, and he will be missed. 

It is with great sadness that I learned Darrell had passed away.  We were young teachers together in Longwood, Florida so long ago.  We had great times together as young couples and families. He was always the most handsome, kind, and gentle man.  We lost touch over the years since both of our divorces but the wonderful times we shared will always be remembered.  My condolences to his daughters and his family.
