He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jan Reynolds; his son, Ryan Hooks (Allison), and their daughters, Lily Leigh Hooks (19) and Mia Mary Hooks (17). He is also survived by his stepsons, Nick Reynolds (Allison) and their sons, River Hamilton Reynolds (5) and Koa Hooks Reynolds (2), as well as Brock Hamilton Reynolds.
David was deeply dedicated to his wife and grandchildren.
David was born in Lake Wales, Florida, to Homer Erle Hooks and Mary Helen Burns. He spent his childhood in Lakeland, Florida, where he built lifelong friendships, and graduated from the University of Florida.
David’s passions included his family, fishing, and UF football. His witty character, welcoming demeanor, and dedication to serving others brightened the lives of all those who knew him.
The Memorial Service will be held on May 29, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Church of the Ascension, 701 Orange Avenue, Clearwater, Florida 33756.
