David, was born December 6, 1956 in Tampa, Florida to Charles Lucas and Merilee Moore. He graduated high school from St. Petersburg High School and would go to be a very successful co-owner of a fastener company in Pinellas County. He was a co-owner for decades and loved his business partner like a brother along with all of his employees. He was a very caring boss who always made sure tasks were done and business was good for his guys and gal who worked for him.
Known as Dave to everyone who knew him, he was also nicknamed Super Dave because of his height at 6’2” and being a great beach volleyball player. Dave was a very intelligent, level-headed, easy-going man who was kind-hearted, gentle and generous. He always put everyone’s needs before his own. He was very driven and always said, “The chores get done first, then you play”. He had a great sense of humor and was pretty silly and very witty.
Dave definitely worked hard so he could play hard. He loved surfing, watching football, baseball, college basketball, golf and racing. His favorite teams were the Buccaneers, the Rays and the Seminoles of college basketball and college football. He always made sure to get his bets in on sports and always hoped to win a “prize”, which he did quite often. He hated traveling to Las Vegas but absolutely loved to be there. He would go numerous times a year with his wife so much so that he also had a Las Vegas family in the guys who worked at the Four Queens Casino.
On his downtime, Dave loved being home where he could sit outside by the pool with his wife, Candace and his cat, Miss Jacks. He liked to kick back with a beer and dive into the pool for a cooldown. He was a big lover of music, in particular music of the 60’s and 70’s. He said that was the last time music was good.
A great husband, son, brother, uncle, cat dad and friend, Dave was very loved and will forever be in our hearts.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Candace Lucas; his father, Charles Lucas; his siblings, Leslie Burdick, Marshall Lucas, Doug Lucas, Bob Lucas and Debbie Duffy; his nieces, Natalie Burdick and Demi Hetterich; his sweet kitty girl, Jack; and many dear friends. A special mention of those he loved and lost recently, his mother and step father, Merilee and Jim Hampton.
