

Thomas, David Lawrence 69, of Dunedin, died Wednesday, April 27, 2016. He was born in Muncie, Indiana four minutes before his twin sister, Teresa Lin Thomas (Terry). After the death of his father, William Mack Thomas, in 1957 his family moved to Dunedin. David attended Dunedin Elementary, Dunedin Junior High and Dunedin High School. He attended the Univeristy of Florida until the death of his mother, Betty Jo Linville Thomas, in 1967 when he returned home to Dunedin along with his wife and daughter to become the head of the Thomas household, assume guardianship of his sisters and graduate from USF. David spent his entire career in the medical industry. First as an orderly in high school, then starting his own medical supply company, DOT Medical, and lastly retiring from McKesson Medical after 35 years. David was an avid UF Gator fan, loved golfing and fishing with his grandchildren. He was predeced in death by his father William Mack Thomas and his mother, Betty Jo Linville Thomas. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dorothy Phillips Thomas; daughter Tonia Thomas Gardner (Kevin); grandchildren Zach, Jordan, Gracelin and Jacob Gardner; sisters Teresa Lampmann (Walter), Patricia Swift and Suzan Mercer (Ron) and numerous nieces and nephews. A service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 7th at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home. Donations may be made in his name to Suncoast Hospice.
