

Donald Allen Giessler, age 87, of Palm Harbor, FL, passed away February 9,2017. He was the son of the late Carl and Ann Giessler of Painesville, OH. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Marylea (Williams) Giessler; daughters Barbara (S. Basu) Basu-Mullick, Weston, CT, Jupiter,FL and Susan (Richard) Green, Meriden,CT; son Mark Giessler, Palm Harbor, FL; grandsons Michael Green, Steven Green, and Neal Basu-Mullick; sister Jane Lampert, Painesville, OH. Donald was born in Mt. Vernon, N.Y. and graduated from Abie Davis H.S. in Mt. Vernon. He received his BS from Michigan State Univ. in Food Technology and his MS from Ohio State. He served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions. He was widely known and respected in the Food Container Industry - working for Anchor Hocking and Ball Bros. Corporations and as owner and President of Food Containers Corp. of Warren, RI. He and Marylea retired to Florida in 1984 and spent many enjoyable years in Highland Lakes and traveling to every state in the U.S. and many countries in Central and South America and Europe. Don was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and steadfast, helpful friend and mentor and created many wonderful memories for his family and all those who knew him. He will be greatly missed and remembered by all.
