Donald L. Siegelin, 93, of Clearwater, FL, passed from this life into his eternal home in heaven on February 3, 2023. He was surrounded by his daughter and a close friend as he passed.
Don was born in Brazil, IN on August 17, 1929 to Leroy Frederick Siegelin and Hazel Florence (Dierdorff) Siegelin. Don graduated from Purdue University in 1952 with a BS in Electrical Engineering.
He worked for Allis Chalmers in Milwaukee, WI until drafted into the U.S. Army. Following his time in the Army, he accepted an offer from a newly formed Honeywell Aerospace Division. He and a group of other engineers helped to open their new facility in Clearwater, Florida in the mid 1950s. He worked there until retirement. His roles included being named Program Manager on a variety of programs, including the Space Shuttle, for NASA and associated prime contractors.
As he neared retirement, he also served as Chairman of the Tri-Tronics Board of Directors.
While working in Milwaukee, Don met Rachel Ann Fuller and they married on October 17, 1953. His wife, Rachel, pre-deceased him in 1994. He is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Ann (Geoff) Tucker, residing in Waxhaw, NC, and Cynthia Lynn Paquin, residing in Clearwater, FL. He also has two grandsons, Joseph Benjamin Paquin and Daniel Lee Paquin, both of Clearwater.
Don also had a sister, Ruth Maxine (William) Burns who pre-deceased him in 2019, and a brother, Dale William (Mary Kay) Siegelin who lives in Fort Wayne, IN.
He was a long-term member of Calvary Church in Clearwater, where he served in a variety of lay leadership positions throughout many years. He was instrumental in starting the TV ministry of the church in 1974 and continued to provide leadership in that area for many years. He also participated in several missions trips to Brazil, South America.
Don had a passion for photography and, in the earlier years, photographed many weddings. He also enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii, and playing golf.
Friends are invited to attend a “Celebration of Life” ceremony at Sylvan Abbey (2853 Sunset Point Road) at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 9, 2023. Pastor Willy Rice, Senior Pastor of Calvary Church, will officiate at the service. Friends may visit with the family following the service.
