

Born on June 17, 1934, in McComas, West Virginia, Donnie was the beloved son of the late Minnie Irene and Roy Edmon Bailey. He lived a full and vibrant life marked by joy, connection, and service to others. Known for his lively spirit, Donnie found great happiness in dancing, entertaining, and bringing people together. A true social butterfly, he never met a stranger. He was also a devoted fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, proudly holding season tickets for over 50 years.
He retired from General Telephone after a long and successful career, where he worked as a respected manager and was known for his strong leadership and dedication.
Donnie served his country with honor in the United States Army and remained committed to his fellow veterans and community throughout his life. He was a dedicated member of the American Legion, VFW, Eagles, and Sertoma, where he formed lasting friendships and made meaningful contributions.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years, Bonnie Bailey; his brother, Robert Bailey; and his grandson, Gerod Lee Steen.
Donnie’s legacy of love and family lives on through his daughters, Debra (Carl) Alexander, Donna (Anthony) Hyde, and Deanna (Dan) Gainey; his siblings, Martha (Fred) Lyons and O.E. (Marie) Bailey; and his cherished companion, Charlotte Jackson. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Jason (Aimee) Alexander, David (LeShea)Alexander, Elizabeth (Ryan) Doerr, Zachary Garrels, Samantha Garrels, Madelyn Gainey, and Connor Gainey, as well as his nine great-grandchildren, extended family, and many dear friends.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, Florida. Donnie will be laid to rest at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park.
He will be remembered for his warmth, his laughter, and the countless lives he touched along the way.
