
Dorothy Emma (Dottie) Mitchell, 97 of New Port Richey, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2018 at Orchard Ridge Nursing Home in New Port Richey. Dottie was born in Staten Island, New York on September 28, 1920 to Charles and Lucy Wohlschlegel. Her husband of 74 years, August (Bud) Mitchell died in February 2017.
She met her future husband after graduating from High School and they were married on May 23, 1942 while he was home on leave from the Army prior to his being sent to North Africa as tank commander with General Patton’s Armored Division. When Bud was discharged from the Army after the war they in lived for several years in Staten Island, New York where Dottie opened and ran a gift shop.
Dottie and Bud lived in several states including California, Arizona, New York, Virginia and Pennsylvania. They lived in Allentown, Pennsylvania for many years before relocating to Florida in the 1970s. When she moved to Florida she joined the First National Bank and Trust, Belleair Bluffs, now Bank of America. She retired as an officer of that bank in 1990.
Funeral will be 11am Wednesday July 10 at Spirit of Grace Lutheran Church, 9525 Hudson Avenue, Hudson, Florida 34667. Visitation will be 10-11AM at the Church Burial will be at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at 2PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Spirit of Grace Lutheran Church.
