Dorothy Ruth Wagner Mullen passed away peacefully in her home in Palm Harbor, FL on the evening of Tuesday, March 5th 2019. Daughter of Richard Wagner and Edith Hansen Wagner, Dorothy was born in Knoxville, TN on December 12th, 1929. She was raised in Englewood, NJ with her older brother, Eric Wagner, who is now deceased.
Dorothy was a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She met her late husband Harry Mullen Sr., as a teenager in New Jersey and went on to have six beautiful children: Steve, Regi, Frank, H.J., Rick, and baby Kevin, who passed away in infancy. She is survived by her other five children and seven grandchildren: Ricky, David, Travis, Tifani, Alyssa, Kalli, and Lauren.
Dorothy was retired from her position as a Police Service Technician for the Clearwater Police Department. But for much of her life, she was a stay at home mother and homemaker. She was blessed with a creative mind and spirit, making beautiful doll houses, clothing, and other crafts throughout her life. She also loved competition, often playing card games and Bingo with friends or watching soccer on television. She loved her family wholeheartedly. Her love of competition and family often merged over the years, as she could be seen at any grandchild’s athletic event, proudly cheering and sporting a portrait pin. In her last days, her prized possessions became pictures of family that covered the walls around her. Dorothy was a beautiful person, inside and out, and will be dearly missed by many.
A celebration of life will be held at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, FL 33759, (727) 796-1992, on Saturday, March 23rd 2019. Viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a graveside service to follow. Refreshments will be served afterwards at Sylvan Abbey.
