Schermerhorn, Dorothy Gilbert “Dot”, 94, of Clearwater, died Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Mease Countryside Hospital. Born in Falconer, NY she resided in both Palm Harbor and Hamilton, NY. She had degrees from both SUNY Fredonia and Syracuse University. Dorothy’s career was working for the Syracuse School System as an elementary school music teacher. Her husband, Walter (“Skip”) and daughter, Linda, preceded her in death in 2013 and 2000 respectively. She is survived by her son, Jim Schermerhorn; grandsons, James Bentley, Chris Schermerhorn and Tom Schermerhorn. A family only service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her and Walter’s name to Suncoast Hospice, Palm Harbor, FL.
