Born and raised in New Jersey, his adventures began at age 11 when his mother took him to Bambergers's department store to have his picture taken. An employee suggested a modeling agency in New York. While modeling, Ed attended Professional Children's School, which specialized in educating students pursuing artistic careers. He sat behind Rose Marie from the "Dick Van Dyke Show".
Ed's days in the military were just as impressionable. He served as a mechanic in the Army's 125th Ordnance Battalion and was stationed in Africa, Egypt, and Italy during WW II. While in Egypt and Italy, Ed became friends with Bill Blythe, the biological father of President Bill Clinton. "After the war, he wanted me to work with him in Texas, but I just didn't like it."
Ed returned to New Jersey and married Eleanor Saul, an RN and valedictorian of her high school class. They moved to Florida in 1987 to get away from the high property taxes. Ed and Eleanor were married for 68 years, but he'll tell you, they were together 70 years. Eleanor proceeded him in death in 2015. Ed is also survived by his daughter Peggy Heeb. In his latest chapter of life, Ed was a volunteer at Mease Dunedin Hospital. He was with Carelift for 20 years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ Church of Palm Harbor 1111 Indiana Ave, Palm Harbor, FL 34683.
