Frances then transferred to the University of Florida but later returned to NIU to finish school. Frances taught kindergarten and 2nd grade, and after earning her master’s degree, she became a reading specialist in Waukegan Public Schools, where she worked for over 20 years.

Frances was also a concert violinist. She played in the Chicago Youth Orchestra as a child and then in the North Shore Symphony as an adult.

In 1985, Frances and her husband retired and moved to Safety Harbor, FL, then later to Oldsmar, FL. During her retirement years, she enjoyed working at many jobs, including Sears, Waukegan Pizza Company and Sophia’s, her son, Michael’s restaurant. But most of all, she enjoyed taking care of her of her two granddaughters.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Frank, her father Joseph and her mother, Susan. She is survived by her children, Michael (Jennifer) and Susan, her grandchildren, Caitlin (Will) Harris and Ashley (Zack) Giles and three great grandchildren.

So sorry to hear about Fran's passing. A whole group of exercise ladies loved her spirit and beautiful person. It was always a treat to have her at our monthly luncheon when I was in Florida and hear her laugh and smile.
I will miss her.

Fran was so special to all of us at City of Clearwater Countryside Recreation. She was always so sweet and positive and loved her family dearly. We were blessed to know her and Frank and loved her stories of her children.

Fran was such a kind hearted person (as well as Frank). I remember back in the early 90's when we Dominic and I were going to be alone for Thanksgiving, she and Frank invited us to join them for dinner. The Stritar family has always felt like our family and we are sorry for your loss. Love you all and our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Thank you, Mrs. Stritar for teaching me "all I needed to know."

She was my kindergarden teacher. Pretty, nice & married to our principal. We thought we were pretty lucky!

May your many loving, happy memories bring a smile to your face & peace to your heart.
