SCATKO, George Anthony, 88, passed away November 19, 2018. George was born on November 22, 1929 to the late Stanley and Mildred (Koscinski) Scatko in Utica, New York. He married Janet (Patchett) Scatko in 1955 and she preceded him in death in 2011.
George received his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from R.I.T. and worked for General Motors before transferring to Buffalo, New York. In 1970 he moved to Butler, Alabama where he worked for American Can as a plant manager. He then moved to Clearwater to work for Celotex – Jim Walter Corporation. After retiring he enjoyed volunteering as an usher at Ruth Eckerd Hall, Greenbrier Community, and Raintree Community. Toastmaster was his new found love from 1980 – 2013 where he received the Honorable Speaker Award. He loved golf with his friends, he even made 2 hole-in-ones. He also enjoyed poker every Monday afternoon and loved going to the small theaters, Francis Wilson and Eight O’clock Theater.
George is survived by his daughters; Glorie Ann (Kibbey) Couse of Trinity, NC. and Gretchen Adelia (Charles) Tarrou of Clearwater, FL. sisters; Eugenna Scatko ( Stanley) Podzienski of Indiana, and Rita Scatko (Donald) Rosinski of New York, Brother- in-Law George Patchett (Loretta) of Florida, and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son; Glen Alan Scatko in 1995, and sister; Roma Scatko Cox.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Suncoast Hospice Foundation Suncoasthospice.org/Donate/. Visitation will be Friday November 30, 2018 from 6-8 PM in Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday December 1, 2018 at 10 AM in Light of Christ Catholic Church Clearwater. Burial will follow in Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park with United States Navy Honors.
