Georgia Pappamihiel Konomos, a devoted wife, loving mother, nurturing Yiayia, caring sister and dear friend, passed away December 14, 2018 in Palm Harbor, FL at the age of 89. She was born on July 18, 1929 in Salem, MA and grew up in a small town called Ipswich, MA, were she said the best clams come from. After high school, she went to vocational school for sewing in Boston, then moved to Lynn, MA where she used her incredible passion and talent to teach others how to sew. Throughout her life she always loved to crochet, knit, and sew, and especially enjoyed making baby blankets for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She met the love her life and her husband of 64 years, Michael Konomos, in Charlotte, NC where he was stationed in the Army. They celebrated their love in a double wedding with her sister Kay and went on to have four children. She and her husband lived a long, fulfilling life where they were loved by everyone that knew them.
She will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Virginia “Ginger” Karagas & Helen Munnerlyn, son, Constantine “Dean” Konomos, five grandchildren, Michael Konomos (Mila), John Konomos (Rachel), Georgia Munnerlyn (Steve Griffin), Hali Coker (KC), & Amanda Konomos, and six great-grandchildren. She will also be remembered by her sisters, Amelia Danikas, Dot Therianos and Christine Cralle. She is predeceased by her husband, Michael Konomos, her son, William Konomos, her sister, Kay Caramihalis, and brothers, Louis, Andy and Steve Pappamihiel.
A visitation will be held on Friday December 21st at 10:00 am at Sylvan Abbey in Clearwater, FL, followed by a service at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Suncoast Hospice.
