Gerry or “Butch” (his family nickname) received his bachelor’s degree in Building Construction in 1970, and two years later he earned his master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), both at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. It was during this time that he met his future wife, Pam, and they were married on June 6, 1970.
Gerard began his career in commercial real estate development in 1972, when he and Pam moved to Orlando, Florida. With the opening of Disney World that year, Orlando was booming and so was the construction industry. It was during this time that Gerry and Pam welcomed their two sons, Joseph and Courtland.
Later, when another construction boom came to Tampa Bay, Gerry and Pam relocated and built their home in Safety Harbor where they have lived for the last 38 years. Butch was an avid sailor and kept his sailboat at the Safety Harbor Marina. He was a founding member of the Safety Harbor Boat Club and a member of Espiritu Santo Catholic Church.
Gerard is survived by his wife of 54 years, Pam Corbino; sons, Joseph Corbino, and Courtland (Ali) Corbino; granddaughter, Catherine Jane Corbino; grandson, James Gerard Corbino; brother, Sebastian (JoAnn) Corbino; sister, Martha (Steve) Priest; and many nephews and nieces.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, February 26, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Sylvan Abbey located at 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater.
