Harold Chapman Smith III

Hal (Harold) Chapman Smith, III of Miramar Beach, FL peacefully passed away April 19, 2023. He was born in Harlingen TX, spent his youth in FL and then settled in Roswell, Cumming and Dawsonville GA until his move to Miramar Beach, FL in 2017.

Hal was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Blaylock Smith, father Hal Smith Jr. and sister Deborah. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Cynthia McGuire Smith, children Rachel and Hallie Smith, stepchildren Talia Young and Ryan Kane and grandchildren, Reid Young, Reise Young, Ryan D. Kane and Matthew Kane.

He enjoyed supporting the Atlanta Braves, Falcons and met his wife at a company sponsored hockey game event where they both worked. Hal was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, boating and the beautiful Gulf Coast waves and sunsets.

Hal graduated from Roswell High School and GA State University. He worked at Homestar Financial Corporation for the past 15 years and prior to that owned his own mortgage company for over 10 years. He loved putting people into a home of their own or into the best financial position.

He was always a larger-than-life personality who never knew a stranger. His big laugh and bigger heart will be dearly missed.

Sylvan Abbey Memorial is planning his Cremation arrangements. A Celebration of Life will be held in the North GA area in early fall.
