
Harriet “Louise” Furey, 88, of St. Petersburg, FL passed away on Monday, January 30, 2017 at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg. She moved to this area from Crescent City, FL after her husband of 45 years, Douglas G. Furey, passed away on September 25, 2003. She was born in Chatham, Ontario, Canada and grew up on a farm. She worked as a florist for most of her life and had been a resident of the United States since 1968. She was an avid golfer and was a long-time member of the Live Oak Golf & Country Club in Crescent City, FL. In recent years, she loved playing bingo, doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family. Survivors include her daughters, Carolynn (Furey) Russell, St. Petersburg; Sandra Furey, St. Petersburg; son, Barry (Sue) Furey; grandsons Robert T (Robbie) Russell III, Gainesville, FL; Connor Russell, St. Petersburg; Jeff Furey and Kevin Furey, Ontario, Canada; four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jacob and Justin Furey, Ontario, Canada; and Reagan Ann Russell, Cloverdale, CA. She also leaves behind her brothers Peter (Bonnie) Peel and William (Polly) Peel, her brother-in-law, Sprague (Anne) Furey, all from Ontario, Canada, and many beloved nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the American Heart Association. Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, Clearwater, FL is in charge of the arrangements. In keeping with Mrs. Furey’s wishes, no services will be held.
