Helen Mae Mutschler of Dunedin peacefully passed away on August 6, 2020 at the age of 93. Born on June 3, 1927, she was one of 6 children born to James and Clara Beveridge in Pittsburgh, PA. On June 19, 1947, she married William (Bill) Mutschler. They were married for 63 years until the time of his passing in March 2011. Left to cherish her memory are her 6 children; Sherry Mancini, Bill Mutschler (Virginia), Jim Mutschler, Keith Mutschler (Melody), Kim Mutschler and Julie Everly. In addition, she has left on earth 18 adoring grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and has now been reunited in Heaven with her great-granddaughter, Monroe Anderson. Helen was also pre-deceased by her brothers Edward and Ronald but has left behind her surviving brother, James Beveridge, two sisters, Lois Highberger (Fran) and Clare (Sis) Noll as well as many nieces and nephews. Helen has also left a lifetime of memories with many, many friends.
Helen was very talented when it came to handwork. She loved sewing and every type of needlework. As recently as last year, she was crocheting small blankets for her great-grandchildren. Helen and Bill moved several times throughout their lives and no matter where they ended up, she would find a place to volunteer, another one of her hobbies. Most recently she volunteered with the First Communion and RCIA programs at St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Clearwater, FL where she was a member of the church community. While attending church was her most important Sunday activity, you might also find her watching her favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. She could never quite figure out why she didn’t get ALL of the Steeler games on her TV because, in her eyes, they were the best team out there (and don’t even get her started on Tom Brady!). Her most favorite pastime, however, was traveling around the country to visit with her children and grandchildren and, the bigger the group, the better. She just loved to look around the room and say, “look what I started!”. She was very proud to be a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother which was evidenced in her story telling and, boy, was she good at that!
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service and burial at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14th, Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Rd., Clearwater, FL 33759.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in her name to her most favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
