97, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2023 in Dunedin Florida. Helen was born on August 6, 1926 in Hooppole, Illinois to Adam & Florence Blackert. Helen married Clair J. Vetter on September 15, 1946 and moved to Clearwater with their children in 1960. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who also volunteered her time through the years at her church, HEP and the Clearwater Free Clinic. Helen is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Clair and daughter Jana Bernsee. She is survived by two daughters; Joy Collman (Jerry), Jean Shapiro, (David) and son James Vetter, (Agnes); seven grandchildren Jill Collman, (Mark Sorokus), Jay Collman, Seth Shapiro, (Melinda), Adam Shapiro, (Crystal), Corey Shapiro, Brett Bernsee, (Sarah Burke), Travis Bernsee; and eight great grandchildren, Nicholas Gustafson, Joseph Gustafson, Christopher Gustafson, Dylan Shapiro, Morgan Shapiro, Noah Shapiro, Cooper Collman and Donovan Collman. There will be a small private service for family. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Clearwater Free Clinic or Empath Hospice.
