Hilmer H. Beckers, age 80, of St. Petersburg, Florida passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023. Hilmer was born in Belgium on March 6, 1943 to Gerard and Irma Beckers. He met his wife, Anne-Marie while living in Belgium, and raised his children. As a child, he grew up in Hasselt, Belgium, and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics summa cum laude from Provinciale Hogeschool Limburg and later received his phd degree. He served in the Belgian Armed Forces prior to starting his career in healthcare.
Prior to joining his tenure with Pfizer starting in 1982, he worked for Organon Teknika in Belgium managing day-to-day operations at a senior executive level. 1986, he was promoted to Director of International Sales for a division of Pfizer’s medical products group; moving his family to the United Kingdom. Three years later he moved his family to the United States after accepting a position as a divisional Vice President for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. He retired from a 16-year career with Pfizer in 1998, taking early retirement. Not being one to sit idle, he started his own successful pharmaceutical reverse distribution company, PharmaLink, in the year 2000. Today, PharmaLink is recognized as a leader in pharmaceutical reverse distribution in the United States.
Hilmer was a long time Rotarian with over 50 years of service to Rotary International on a global level. He was the President of Rotary Aarschot, Belgium in 1980-81 & 1982-83, as well as President of the Rotary Club of Clearwater Beach and Foundation Chair. Over the years, Hilmer was a major supporter and donor of the Rotary International Annual Fund and Polio Fund. He was also a member of the Carlouel Yacht Club and St. Petersburg Yacht Club.
Hilmer is survived by his children; daughter Annick Ramadori (with Sesto Ramadori) and son Thierry Beckers (with Elizabeth Beckers). His grandchildren Ashley Schratz, Alexander Beckers, Veronique Beckers and his step-granddaughters Francesca Hernandez (with Adrian Hernandez), Katia Ramadori, and step-great-grandson Enzo Hernandez. He is also survived by his brother (Renaud Beckers), sister (Maggie Evens), in-laws and other family living in Belgium. He is preceded in death by his wife; Anne-Marie Martens Beckers, and his son; Pascal Beckers.
Hilmer loved to travel the world to exotic locations and go on luxury cruises. He enjoyed spending time with family and going out to eat. He was also an avid luxury car fanatic, especially his Rolls Royces.
