82, of New Port Richey, FL, passed away on September 26, 2023. Jack was born on July 19, 1941, to Burton and Lilly Mary Amelia Caswell in Lakeland, FL.
After he graduated from Summerlin Institute in Bartow, he went on to study at the University of South Florida. Prior to attending college, Jack served in the Army, where he was stationed in Ethiopia. Jack worked as a detective sergeant, for the Saint Petersburg Police Department and retired after 20 years. He then worked as the Director of Safety and Security for Bayfront Hospital for 10 years. After leaving Bayfront in 1992, Jack and his family moved to Newport, TN, where he lived for 26 years before moving back to Florida in 2017.
Jack met his wife, Judy, while at the St. Petersburg Police Department, where he fell head over heels the first time he saw her. They recently celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary in July. Jack and Judy had two children, Brian and Michelle. Jack loved his family and always prioritized family time. He dedicated his life to provide a wonderful life for his family and always did it with a smile. He loved to travel and would never say no to an adventure.
His travels took him all over the United States, Italy, Dominican Republic, and Mexico. His last ‘big’ vacation was two weeks on the coast of Oregon and Washington, where he fell in love with the natural beauty of both states. Jack loved listening to music, and a perfect evening for him would be to listen to his stereo while playing George Jones, Hank Williams Jr. and Merle Haggard. Jack loved his home in East Tennessee and would spend hours walking the property and spending time outside. He loved hiking in the Smoky Mountains, and although a native Floridian, he loved cheering on the Tennessee Vols’ football team every Saturday.
Jack loved spending time with his grandchildren, and his grandchildren loved spending time with him. He was there for every sporting event, birthday party and school event for his children and grandchildren. Jack’s favorite holiday was Christmas, and he was the “Clark Griswold” of Christmas trees and lights. Jack loved animals and dogs would always find him, including his favorite dog, Abby.
Jack is predeceased by his parents, seven sisters and three brothers. He is survived by his wife, Judy Caswell, his two children, Brian (Ashley) and Michelle (John); three grandchildren, Alexander, Liam and Lana; his sisters, Virgina McElfresh, Tutti Wills, Joanne Smith (Sonny) and Gladys Yawn; his brother, Mack Caswell (Virginia); his sister-in-law, Jo Pritt (Abe) and brother-in-law, Raymond Victorio (Ricci), sister-in-law; Peggy Caswell and many nieces and nephews.
