James was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, on July 24, 1951. He graduated from Lowell High School in 1969 and went on to earn his master’s degree in mechanical engineering. Throughout his professional life, James worked in the air-conditioning industry as a mechanical engineer with Quentix Air Conditioning.
James married the love of his life, Catherine Macomber, on February 1, 1995. Together, they built a life they loved—one that was truly their own.
James took great pride in his work and had a lifelong passion for cars, particularly classic automobiles, and rebuilding engines. He enjoyed the hands-on nature of working with engines and the satisfaction that came from bringing a classic car back to life.
James is survived by his wife, Catherine; his siblings, Helen Stilk, Lynn Gordon, and Philip Gordon; and his nine beloved cats, whom he loved dearly.
James will be remembered for his dedication to his work, his love of classic cars and engines, and the many memories he created with those who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life for James will be held at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, FL 33759, on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 2:00PM.
