It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Hastings (Jim), a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who departed this life at the age of 91 on June 22, 2025. He was married to his loving wife for 50 wonderful years and is survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Jim had a lifelong passion for sports, proudly holding season tickets for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He enjoyed attending games for the Tampa Bay Lightning and Rays, often accompanied by his granddaughter, Ashley. He took immense pride in his family, celebrating granddaughter Heather’s dedication to softball and grandson Drew’s achievements in lacrosse, which he joyfully watched him play in Tampa.
His love for travel led him to visit his granddaughter, Lindsey, and family in Italy three times while her dad was serving in the military. Jim cherished his roots in West Virginia and held fond memories of vacationing in Florida, eventually making it his home.
A dedicated banking professional, he began his career as a teller and worked his way up to Assistant Vice President. He faced adversity when involved in a bank robbery at California Federal but continued to inspire those around him.
Jim had a passion for gospel music, often singing during his time at Grand Villa Assisted Living.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to Clearwater Church of the Nazarene for their unwavering support throughout the years and to Grand Villa of Clearwater for the exceptional care provided in his later years.
He will be deeply missed but will forever be remembered for his love, kindness, and the joy he brought to everyone’s lives. Rest in peace, dear Dad. 💙
Jim was preceded in death by his Spouse, Shirley Ann (Braden) Hastings, Spouse, Patricia (Hayes) Hastings, Father, Ray Hastings, Mother, Hazel Lane Hastings, and Brother, Orville Lee Hastings.
