

James V. (Jim) Hunt, 84, of Clearwater passed away January 27, 2017 after a brief illness. Jim was retired from Murphy Oil Corporation. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed golf, football and baseball. He was a graduate of the University of Florida Business School, a member of the University of Florida Alumni Association, Pinellas County Gator Club (Go Gators!), Northwood Presbyterian Church, Top of the World Republican Club and past President of the Lakeland Jaycees and a member of Lions Clubs international. He was born September 13, 1932 in Ty Ty, Georgia and moved to Florida as a child. He was in the United States Army and served in the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Hunt, two daughters Deborah Hunt Halstead (Gary Sr.), Traci Hunt Davis (Simon), two sons, Greg and Jeff, grand daughters Shannon Halstead Lofton (George), Stephani Halstead Foster (Dave), Jamie Mercer, and Sara Davis, grandsons Gary Halstead Jr. (Katie) and Jake Mercer, great grand daughters Amber Foster, Lauren Lofton, (and baby Halstead) and great grandson Travis James Foster.
He is preceded in death by his parents Bertie Carl and Zema Hunt and by siblings, Junior Hunt, Eugene Hunt, Leon Hunt Cephus Hunt, Wilma Hunt and Marie Hunt Przybylski.
Funeral Services by Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, Wednesday February 1, 2017, 10:00 at the Mausoleum Chapel, followed by a service at 11:00 at Northwood Presbyterian Church.
