James Daniel Raum, a cherished son, brother, faithful husband, devoted father and mentor, passed away on September 24, 2025, at the age of 56. Born on November 21, 1968, in Salem, Oregon. James was the beloved son of Marilyn and the late Michael Raum. His siblings include Elizabeth Wright, Anna Payne, Charles Hendricks, Jamie, Michelle, & Josh Raum.
James was a resident of Palm Harbor, Florida, where he lived with his family. He was a kind-hearted and compassionate individual, known for his humor and hard-working nature. He attended Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri where he studied European History graduating valedictorian in 1995. He dedicated 26 years of his career as a senior consultant for a technology company where his coworkers describe him as way more than just a colleague. To them he was a wise, kind, and compassionate mentor.
James married Carmen Jean Raum on July 2, 2016 they shared a loving family. He is survived by his wife, Carmen, and daughter, Lillian Muse. James was preceded in death by his father, Michael Henery Raum, and daughter, Madalyn Jean Muse.
His personal interests included golf, reading, collecting books, history, and learning languages - he was fluent in German and would learn some basics of any language in order to interact with others in their language. James also enjoyed cooking, painting, singing, playing the banjo, guitar and spending time with his friends and family playing games and hosting. When he was younger he partook in Taekwondo and won multiple black belt awards.
He faithfully practiced a life of his Catholic beliefs by actively serving his community brothers and sisters through the Knights of Columbus. James is a 14-year Knight and earned his 3rd Degree order in 2020. James energetically served many roles in his Knights of Columbus Council 5635, John F. Kennedy Memorial, his last role being the Faith In Action Programs Director. James was a 2-year Officer in the Council 5635. James was well known for his passion and commitment as chef in the Council's monthly Breakfast Cafe, benefiting the children of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School, Lenten Fridays' Fish Fry, serving parishioners of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, and their annual parish picnics. He was instrumental with planning and coordinating the 2024 inaugural Morning with Christ Men's Retreat at our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He led many community group hours providing maintenance to the Kimberly Home Care Center in Clearwater, Fl., serving young mothers and their children in need. He recently received the Star council program director award for significantly contributing to his councils achievement of Knights of Columbus Star Council, for two consecutive years. James, being an impactful role model for the Knights of Columbus will be significantly missed by all his Brother Knights.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, located at 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, Florida 33759.
A Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, October 2, 2025, starting at 2:00 pm in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 750 San Salvador Drive, Dunedin, Florida 34698. The service will be live streamed for those who cannot attend. Interment will follow at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either The Knights of Columbus Council 5635 or The Kimberly Home Care Center in Clearwater, Florida.
