

James Louis Starr, of Clearwater, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Pinecrest Assisted Living Facility in Largo. He was born February 24, 1929 in Butler, Pa. He was a graduate of Butler High School, Case Western Reserve University and held a Masters Degree from Purdue University. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Later, was employed by Goodyear as an engineer in Akron, Ohio. He became an elementary school teacher in Indiana, then taught school for 25 years in Largo, Fla. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and The Shrine. While a member at Trinity Presbyterian Church, he served as a Deacon, Elder, teacher and choir member. He volunteered at Morton Plant Hospital from 1994-2014. Reading and travel were passions of his, including being able to visit 50 states and many foreign countries. He is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Marian Starr. Survivors include 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Christie and Chris Bianchi and Jamie and Patrick Yager, 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He has 2 sisters, Ruth Richards of Sarver, Pa. and Becky Flowers of Grove City, Pa. Entombment will be at Sylvan Abbey, Clearwater, Fla. The Memorial service will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 2001 Rainbow Drive, Clearwater, Florida 33765 on September 17, 2016 at 11:00a.m.. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society &/or Trinity Presbyterian Church Music Department.
