She was born April 2, 1927, in Holyoke, Massachusetts, the daughter of Frederick and Doris Clark.
Janet was a 1945 graduate of Holyoke High School, where she was Co-Captain of the Cheerleading Team and a member of the Drama Club, Forum Club, Debate Team, A Capella Choir, and Yearbook Staff. She received numerous awards as a pianist and music composer.
She attended Tufts University in Massachusetts where she met her husband, Merle William Goodwin, who passed away on March 3, 2016, in Largo, Florida.
Janet will be missed by daughters Cynthia Murphy (Robert) of Portland, Oregon; Susan Goodwin (Chipp Jones) of Washington, D.C.; and son William Goodwin (Patty) of Niles, Ohio. She leaves behind seven grandchildren, Benjamin (Jennifer) Murphy, Mark Murphy, Paul Murphy, Christopher Jones, Philip (Mara) DeCapito, Lauren (Brian Whitfield) DeCapito, William ( Samatha) Goodwin; and four great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Ada Murphy, Cole Whitfield, and Adam Goodwin.
Janet's family wishes to thank the staff at Crown Center at Laurel Lake for their care and support throughout the past six years.
Burial will be on December 1, 2022, at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Clearwater, Florida.
