Janice Irene Vickers Daniel, age 76, passed away on August 7, 2026, surrounded by love. Though her journey through life was not without challenges, she lived on her own terms, shaped by choices that were uniquely hers. Those who loved her understood her strength, her complexity, and the quiet resilience she carried through every chapter of her life.
Born on March 24, 1950, in Newport News, Virginia, Janice was the beloved daughter of Otho and Mary S. Vickers. She shared a deep and enduring bond with her family, especially her sister, Jean Stone, whose love for her never wavered. Their connection was rooted in understanding, forgiveness, and a lifetime of treasured memories that will continue to shine brightly.
Janice will be remembered for the things that brought her genuine joy. She loved the beach, finding peace in the sound of the waves and warmth in the sun. She cared for her many plants with tenderness, filling her home with life and beauty. She held a special place in her heart for animals, especially the many cats she welcomed into her care and the countless others she helped rescue over the years. Outside her home, she was much like Snow White, faithfully feeding birds, squirrels, and even the occasional raccoon. Her home and yard were a sanctuary for any creature in need of kindness.
She also had a remarkable gift for making people feel remembered and cherished. Janice never forgot a birthday or anniversary and rarely missed the opportunity to send a thoughtful card filled with love. She was known for choosing meaningful gifts that spoke directly to a person's heart. Her thoughtfulness came naturally, and her kindness left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Janice is survived by her husband; her son; six stepchildren; thirteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two beloved grand-puppies, all of whom were an important part of her story and brought meaning and joy to her life.
While her passing brings profound sorrow, there is comfort in knowing that she is no longer suffering. Her family finds peace in the memories she leaves behind, memories filled with laughter, tenderness, generosity, and a love that remains long after a person is gone.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
