Jennifer was born in Buffalo, NY on January 5, 1975. She moved to Clearwater, Florida with her parents Jim & Marcy Meyer along with her brother Christopher Meyer in June of 1979. Jennifer lived in Clearwater until her passing. After their move her parents had 3 other children, two brothers Bradley Meyer and Elliot Meyer along with a sister Stephanie Ray.
Jennifer graduated from Paul B. Stephens Exceptional School at the age of 21. The following year she was admitted to the nursing home at Regency Oaks because of her many medical conditions. This is where she passed away on June 22, 2019.
Jenny was born healthy and normal. At an early age she was given the DPT vaccine. She had a screaming reaction to the 1st shot. The 2nd shot she slept for abnormal amount of hours, the 3rd shot she had a seizure in the Doctor’s office and finally continued with the 4 shot some time later. Jenny was our 1st born, we trusted our Doctor. We were not informed parents 44 years ago.
At 6 months old she was hospitalized for the 1st time and started her life battling uncontrolled seizures, sometimes 100 a day! She went into a coma after a 24 hour seizure the Doctors couldn't stop. She had Hospice for 4 months then improved. 30+ hospital stays, feeding tube for 10 years, 2-3 dozen ambulance rides, so much more. Jenny was robbed of her speech at 5 yrs. old and Mom was told by Jenny’s Neurologist "Face it Marcy, she's dying and she will be dead by the time she is 7".
Her Mom wouldn't let it go and did her own research and became a part of the newly formed www.NVIC.ORG and Jennifer’s photo marched in front of the CDC in 1986 for the right to compensate injured children and to fully inform parents so they can make the decision to play Russian Roulette or not.
Jenny had immense love from Mom, Jim and Grandma but no quality of life and that weighed us down terribly. We were always heartbroken for her. Jennifer had an amazing strength with a will to live. She is the strongest person by far that we have ever known. We find great comfort that our Jenny is with Jesus, with a perfect body and mind and surrounded by all things beautiful!
