She was born in Woodside Queens, New York on January 1, 1935. She later married Henry E. Zega on October 30, 1954.
Joan had a 25 year career in Retail Management for Gayfers Department Store. She was a member of the Light of Christ Women’s Guild and a Girl Scouts of America Troop Leader. She had a passion for travel, the beach, being a volunteer Braille Transcriber, her Golden Girls Group, her many fur babies, and most of all being a Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother.
She was survived by her Husband, Henry, her daughters; Linda Zega Stokke (Rod), Laura Zega Cummings (Richard), and Brenda Zega, her Grandchildren; Gregory Cummings (Holly), Jessica Cummings, and Julia Cummings Paluch (Nathan), and her Great Grandchildren; Chandler Cummings, Arabelle Cummings, and Cameron Cummings.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 11 AM to 3 PM on November 15th at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home.
