Joe Leonard BRYANT

Private graveside services and interment for Joe L. Bryant III, age 73 of Clearwater, FL, will be held Wednesday January 13 at Sylvan Abby Memorial Park in Clearwater. Joe passed away Friday January 1, 2021 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born July 22, 1947 in Murray, KY to the late Joe L. II and Lydia Mae Daniel Bryant. Joe earned an associate’s degree from Louisburg College and a bachelor’s as well as master's degree from North Carolina State University. Joe was an industrial arts teacher at Murdoch Developmental Center in Butner, NC for a number of years. He later moved to Clearwater, FL and worked for APG Electric where he was the Orlando Branch Manager and oversaw the electrical work for the Islands of Adventure Theme Park at Universal Studios. Joe was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Clearwater. He was called to work with youth and served as a Sunday School teacher as well as coached youth sports. He also loved to sing and enjoyed singing in the choir. He was a part time resident of Cookeville, TN and member of Stevens Street Baptist Church.

Joe was a devoted husband, father, and amazing chef who loved to entertain friends with his delicious cooking. He also spent countless Saturdays taking friends and family on boat outings and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Bryant; son, Bob (Melanie) Ehr of Lawrenceburg, KY; daughters, Dana (Sean) McCaffrey of Gastonia, NC; Julie (Gregg) Nicholson of Bangkok, Thailand, and Amy (Lester) Forde of York, SC; sister, Suzanne Brooks of Creedmoor, NC; sister in law, Vicki Bryant of Wake Forest, NC; fourteen grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Bryant. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Christian School, 110 N McMullen Booth Rd, Clearwater, FL 33759.
