Casas, John H. Sr., 94, of Palm Harbor, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Suncoast Hospice in Palm Harbor. Born in Brooklyn, NY he moved to Clearwater from the Pocono Mountains in PA 30 years ago. After being in the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC’s) as a teenager, he proudly served his country in the US Coast Guard aboard the U.S. S. Centaurus AKA 17 during WWII. He will be remembered by many friends and acquaintances as a friendly, fun-loving guy and fondly missed as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is preceded in death by his sons, John Jr. and Michael. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Anne Casas; and daughters, Ann (Tony) Bartenope, of Clearwater, and Linda (Dennis) Smyth, of Brooklyn, NY; 7 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Luke’s in Palm Harbor on Tuesday, August 18th at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org
