OBITUARY

John Paul Gallups

January 31, 1968June 11, 2019

John Paul Gallups, 51, of Clearwater, Florida, passed away on June 11, 2019 peacefully in his sleep.

Visitation and the funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., respectively on Monday June 17, 2019 at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Rd. Clearwater, FL 33759. Burial will follow the funeral at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park across from the funeral home immediately following the service.

Paul was born in Tallahassee, Florida on January 31, 1968. He obtained his GED through Wakulla High School in Medart, Florida and lived in the area until he moved to Clearwater about 13 years ago. Paul can best be described as a person who never met a stranger. He thoroughly loved life, his friends and family. If you ever wanted to find him, you would only have to stand on the boat ramp until he came in from fishing. And, if you ever wanted to fish or just go out on the water, you only had to say the word and he would drop everything to accommodate.

Paul is survived by his father and mother, William Carl Gallups, Sr. And Holly Cornwell Gallups of Panacea, Florida; his 2 sisters, Beth Gallups and Brenda Walburn and her husband Dennis Walburn; his brother William Carl Gallups, Jr., and his wife Pamela Gallups, and other extended family, as well as, his 2 “adopted” sisters, Ila Gray and Julie Lizak.

The family of John Paul Gallups wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Morton Plant Hospital of Clearwater, Florida and the Suncoast Hospice Mid Pinellas Woodside of Pinellas Park, Florida.

In lieu of flowers please send donations to Suncoast Hospice Mid Pinellas Woodside.

Sad hearing Paul passed away, Tom & Paul used to talk for hours of all the things they did growing up. He will be dearly missed.

Paul was very young when we would play with his sisters during the summer in Monticello. He loved the merry-go-round. So young to leave this earth. My prayers for all of you.

I did not know Paul personally, but am a dear friend of his sister Brenda and her husband Dennis. I had the privilege to pray often for him and his family as they went through this difficult time. He was dearly loved and fought hard to be well. He will be greatly missed here on earth, but the good news is we will see him again in heaven and he will be totally well with no more suffering. I hope this knowledge is a comfort to His family. I will continue to pray for them.

I also did not know John (Paul) personally but through his sister Brenda. He sounds like he was a great friend and brother. My prayers are with Paul’s family and friends as they go through this difficult time of mourning. May the knowledge he is in Heaven bring you comfort. I look forward to getting to know him then!

Paul was a wonderful guy. I worked with him many years ago at the Oaks. I haven't seen him in many years. His mother Holly worked with us to. She was the sweetest lady. I'm so sorry for the loss of this once dear friend.

There is no legacy like a life well lived for others. I didn’t know Paul, except through stories shared by his sister, Brenda, but I know how he will be missed. My sympathies to family and friends.
