John J. Truty, 97, of Clearwater, FL/Deerfield, IL was called home to be with the Lord on December 3rd, 2015. John was preceded in death by his loving wife, Eleanor; and grandson, Finn Ward; his sister, Ann Golojuch and brother, Joseph Truty. John leaves behind his three children; Pam Ward, Pris Irvine, and Luke John Truty; two granddaughters and their spouses, Brooke and Ryan Minton, and Jamie and James Dees; and his significant other, Bernie Raatikainen; and a host of nieces and nephews, and sister-in-law, Jayne Pikula. John was a beloved husband, father, brother, son, friend and veteran of World War II. John was born in Chicago, November 17, 1918. He served as a paramedic in WWII, in the Army Ghost Corps. After the war, he married Eleanor Pikula and worked as a Restaurateur at F&T Restaurant in Chicago. Later, he moved to Deerfield where he continued to raise his family, and enjoy golfing, bowling and polka dancing. After retirement, he continued giving to the community as a Crossing Guard in Deerfield. He spent the last 7 years of his life in Florida, enjoying golf, outdoor adventures and sunshine! Mass will be held Monday, December 28th, 2015 at 10:00am, at Holy Cross Church in Deerfield, IL. Visitation at the church will start at 9:00am. Interment will follow at St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles IL.
