

Born on April 24, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York, Joseph was the beloved son of the late Jessie and William Farrell. He was a proud graduate of the New York Institute of Technology and later continued his education at St. Petersburg College, reflecting a lifelong commitment to learning.
Joseph proudly served with the New York City Police Department during one of the most memorable eras in its history. Through unwavering integrity, dedication, and perseverance, he rose through the ranks to become a highly respected detective, earning the admiration of both his colleagues and the community he served before his retirement.
A man of boundless curiosity, Joseph believed that learning should never end. He continually sought new knowledge throughout his life and, in his later years, delighted in taking college courses alongside his grandchildren simply for the joy of learning. His inquisitive spirit, sharp mind, and love of discovery inspired everyone who knew him.
Joseph embraced life with enthusiasm and warmth. He enjoyed shooting pool, spending time at the gun range, and, in his younger years, singing doo-wop music. Whether sharing stories, laughter, or wisdom, he had a gift for making lasting connections and bringing joy to those around him.
Above all, Joseph was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Janis Farrell; his children, Christine, Laura, Jill, Jan, Michael, and Laurie; six cherished grandchildren; one treasured great-grandchild; and many loving extended family members and dear friends.
Joseph will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, his distinguished service, his endless pursuit of knowledge, and the kindness, strength, and humor that defined his remarkable life. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched and in the love he shared so generously.
