

Joyce was born on October 27, 1941, in Buffalo, New York, to the late Katherine and Peter Falter. She lived a life defined by compassion, service, and unwavering faith.
A dedicated Registered Nurse, Joyce devoted her professional life to caring for others. She worked in dermatology with Dr. Susan Roper and also served as a heart, lung, orthopedic, and psychiatric nurse at Morton Plant Hospital. Her calling to care extended far beyond her career—she gave of herself generously in every aspect of her life.
Joyce was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was an avid bridge player, loved to crochet, and greatly enjoyed traveling. She had a deep love for the mountains and treasured the summers she spent at her condo in Banner Elk, North Carolina. Joyce was also a proud member of the Beech Mountain Club.
Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life. Joyce was a devoted member of Espiritu Santo Catholic Church and All Saints Catholic Church. She faithfully served as a Eucharistic Minister at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church, where her faith and commitment to service were evident to all who knew her. Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life.
She also volunteered her time with Hospice, Morton Plant Hospital, the American Red Cross, The Kimberly Home in Clearwater, and Cannon Memorial Hospital, always seeking ways to help and comfort others.
Joyce is survived by her loving children, Karen (Mike Schrett) Wanemaker and Paul (Kathy Seng) Wanemaker; her cherished grandchildren, Logan Ray Bishop and Cody Lee Bishop; son-in-love, Matthew Bishop; her sister, Dolores (William) Ryan; her nieces and nephews, Allison Ryan and Craig (Darlene) Ryan; her beloved Yorki-Poo, Taffy; along with many extended family members and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Wanemaker, and her daughter, Claire Wanemaker.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home, 2853 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater, Florida 33759.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Espiritu Santo Catholic Church or the Suncoast Hospice Foundation.
