Julia Schaefer DeLuca, 73, Safety Harbor, FL passed on Jan 21, 2019. She was predeceased by her parents Henry and Nayda Schaefer and is survived by Frank, her loving husband of 33 years; by her four sisters Mary Agnew, Barbara Eder, Catherine Haynes and Theresa Schaefer; three children by marriage: Jennifer Simmons, Robert DeLuca and Michael DeLuca; and six grandchildren Jacob, Ella, Tessa, Nicholas, Erin and Elizabeth.
Born in Coral Gables FL she began her career of caregiving as a volunteer candy striper at an area hospital. After completing her associate degree she began a 35 year nursing career as a registered nurse, working in a variety of nursing areas including general hospital care, chemotherapy and opthamology. She and her husband Frank were married in 1985 and continued to live in the Miami area until 2002 when they moved to Safety Harbor FL. She enjoyed travel and meeting extended family and friends in Europe, Australia and around the US, She particularly the California coast.
During her time at the University of Miami she was a cofounder of the Neumann Club for Catholic students. Julia was a friend to everyone she met, mentoring a number of young nurses and maintaining lifelong friendships with everyone she befriended. She willingly volunteered for a number of social, charitable and neighborhood organizations, always willing to take on any assignment. Julia was a true caregiver, always placing the welfare of others before her own. She always brought out the good in people.
Julia is now out of earthly sight but will live on in all of those who’s lives she touched
