

She was born in Washington D.C. on May 12, 1952 to William and Ursula Forbes.
Karen received a B.A. in Mass Communications from the University of South Florida in 1977 and a J.D. from Santa Clara University Law School in 1989.
Karen became interested in genealogy in 1977 and began researching her Forbes ancestors. She was able to research twelve generations of Forbes going back to the original immigrant who was born in Scotland in or around 1635. This culminated in a book she published in 1997 of over 700 pages. She dedicated the book to her parents.
She was named the first genealogist for Clan Forbes when it was organized in 1979 and has been a member of a number of hereditary societies.
Karen passed the bar in Maryland in 1989 and began practicing Family Law and Real Estate Law in College Park Maryland. She appeared before the Appellate Court of Maryland and worked in law until 2008 when she retired.
Karen enjoyed many pastimes including making jewelry, painting, gardening, refurbishing antique furniture, and genealogy. She loved photography and had her own darkroom in her younger days. She loved animals and had many cats and dogs over the years.
She is survived by her husband James Deininger and her cousin Kathy Forbes Dahl.
She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
