Laura was born in Hackensack, New Jersey, to parents James and and Marion Dishman. As a young girl her family moved to Florida. She attended high school at Boca Ciega High School, was a long time employee of Publix, and after starting a family, she went to the University of South Florida in her thirties for a degree in Special Education. Having worked within Pinellas County Schools, she later retired and moved to Bland, Virginia.
Laura battled several illnesses in her lifetime, but left this world in peace. She is survived by her daughters: Jennifer (Chris) Prouty of Clearwater, Florida and Rebecca (Justin) Chamberlain of Ocala, Florida; Grandchildren: Desiree Shelton, Nathan (Jasmine) Shelton, and Ava Chamberlain; Siblings: Dennis (Ginger) Burden, James Dishman, Lois (Phillip) Cooper, David Dishman, and Susan (Terry) Rockfield; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 2pm followed by a reception, held collectively at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home in Clearwater, Florida.
