Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on September 27, 1949, Linda was the cherished daughter of Elsie Levon (Castle) Kelsey and Stanley Genton. As one of 22 siblings, she grew up surrounded by the warmth and closeness of a large family. Her early years were spent in Florida before returning to Ohio at the age of 16. She graduated from Miami Trace High School with the Class of 1968.
Linda was a devoted mother to her two children, Teresa and Tony. On April 22, 1998, she married the love of her life, Jerry Althouse. With their union came the blessing of a blended family, and Linda lovingly welcomed Jerry’s daughters—Michelle, Mindy, and Kristen—into her heart as her own. Her life was a testament to unconditional love, grace, and unity.
In 1983, Linda began a long and dedicated career with the United States Postal Service. Affectionately known as “Bell” by her coworkers, she served as a mail carrier for over 20 years. She began her service in Ohio before transferring back to Florida, where she eventually retired.
Linda’s life was anchored by her deep and unwavering faith. A longtime member of Calvary Chapel, she read her Bible faithfully every single day and lived her life in accordance with its teachings. Her quiet strength, boundless compassion, and gentle spirit were a reflection of the values she held dear.
She found joy in the simple things—gardening, tending to her lawn, spending time outdoors, and playing games on her iPad. But her greatest happiness came from time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure.
Linda leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and faith. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and fondly remembered for the many lives she touched.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Jerry Althouse; her children, Teresa Fraley and Anthony Althouse; bonus-children, Michelle Lee Pace, Mindy Wasoba (Stewart E Wasoba Jr), and Kristen Self (Michael Self); and grandchildren Brandy, Kaleigh, Brandon Jordan, Addison, Hayven, Hailey, Brayden, Brooke, Brody, Brandon Pace, Andrew and Chance. She is also survived by her many beloved siblings and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Christopher Pace.
A visitation will be held at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home on Thursday August 7th, 2025 at 2:00pm with a graveside service to follow at 3:00pm.
