Lois "Jeanne" Thomas, who was 93 years young, was born in Monongah, West Virginia on June 5, 1925 to Orie and Evelyn Spragg. Jeanne peacefully departed from this life on March 20th, 2019 at 7:49PM, surrounded by her loving family.
Jeanne attended Business College in Greensboro, North Carolina, where she was recruited into service as a civilian, working as a Secretary in the Prisoner of War Division, Pentagon, Washington D.C. In 1947, she married Chester D. Thomas and eventually moved to Nutter Fort, West Virginia, to raise their three children. Jeanne was elected into public office, as the Recorder for the City of Nutter Fort. During her many years as a public official in Nutter Fort, Jeanne was instrumental in writing grants to obtain water lines, sidewalks, a public library and a parcel of land where the high school now sits for those not only living in Nutter Fort but also Clarksburg and surrounding areas.
In September of 1983, Chester and Jeanne relocated to Clearwater, Florida, where she continued her career in public service, working as a Secretary for the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, retiring at the age of 73. Jeanne was an avid reader, she loved musicals, dancing and exercised daily for over fifty years.
Jeanne was proceeded in death by her husband, Chester and is survived by her three children and spouses, Chester Thomas and Pam Robinson, Jeffrey and Penny Thomas, Beverly and Jon Witkowski. Jeanne was also the proud grandparent of Jeffrey Thomas, Robert Thomas, Sara Witkowski, Jon Witkowski, Tammy Reeder and great grandparent to Chyenne, Julia and Oliver Thomas and Julia Reeder.
