Marcellina (Marcy) DeLaTorre Villanueva Ramirez, of Dunedin, Florida, passed away on October 23, 2024, in Dunedin, Florida. Marcy was born in Emporia, Kansas to Genaro and Bertha Villanueva on January 16, 1946. She lived her first 3 years in Mexico, then moved back to Emporia, finally growing up on the Westside of Kanas City, Missouri. She married the love of her life, John Richard (Rick) Ramirez, on August 25, 1972, in Topeka, Kansas. In 1997, Marcy and John renewed their wedding vows in the church, after 25 years, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. On December 10, 2022, after 50 years, Marcy renewed her wedding vows to her husband John, at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Summerfield, Florida.
Marcy was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend; devoted to her family. She loved her faith and participated in daily mass. She said the rosary at 3 pm daily through EWTN/Relevant Radio. She was proud to be a Christian Mother and Teacher of faith formation at Our Lady of Lourdes. She enjoyed helping students understand the catholic faith and getting them ready for the first holy communion. Marcy was proud of being a Mexican American and would show her pride. She and her husband loved to dance and would just dance any time of day but especially when there was a fiesta. Along with her husband, Marcy was a master upholsterer. She was also an avid crafter; in her younger years, she would sew clothing without even having a pattern to follow. She could remake anything she saw. Marcy could find beauty in most things that others could not see and use for most things that others did not want. She loved beautiful flowers and would plant them everywhere in the yard. She loved Christmas trees and had a beautiful sunflower-designed tree up all year round at home. She made sure that everyone always had something on Christmas, even if it was just a small craft that she made; she did not want anyone visiting not to have something to open. Marcy was a great cook and most of the kids in the neighborhood loved to come over and eat; she was always happy to oblige. Marcy collected nativities and rosaries. She loved animals and even had white mice as pets as a teenager.
