

Margaret Hanington Rolfs, 90, died suddenly at sea on April 13, 2016. She was a resident of Pinellas County for 40 years. She was predeceased by her husband, John Cecil Rolfs, husband, Carl Magnus Nyberg, daughter, Joan Lewis, and brother, John Hanington. She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie Galizio, of McLean, VA; sons, John Rolfs of Longwood, FL and Richard Rolfs of Merritt Island, FL; son-in-law, Delmar Lewis, of Key West, FL, and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Hanington of Newtown, CT. In addition, she is survived by her step-children; Betsy Grimm of San Antonio, TX, Ellen Deame of Ellington, CT, Peter Nyberg of Coventry CT, and Jon Nyberg of New Britain, CT. She is also survived by the following; eight grandchildren - Christopher, Patrick, Brendan, Alison, Lyndsie, Andrew, Megan, and Jonathan; 12 great-grandchildren - Nicholas, Margaret, Matthew, Catie, Ciaran, Niall, Declan, Sorcha, Fiachra, Danny, Taylor, and Chase; numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. An executive at the Reader's Digest in Chappaqua, NY, before her move to Florida in 1976, she continued her professional career as founder and President of Direct Response Services, a pioneer direct marketing agency in the Tampa Bay Area. She also served as one of the founding members of the Florida Direct Marketing Association, served as an advisor to the School of Journalism and Communication at the University of Florida, and supported many other professional and social organizations. She will be remembered as a devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and loyal friend. Her compassion, infectious enthusiasm, humor, and joy for life will also be cherished as well as her love of travel and boundless energy. A memorial service is planned at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home in Clearwater, FL on Saturday, May 21, at 11 am. Flowers can be sent to the Funeral Home for the service or a donation may be made to any charity in the name of Margaret H. Rolfs.
