Marilyn Jean Donovan (Gaffney), age 91, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021. Marilyn was born on February 28, 1929 in Swampscott, Massachusetts to James and Edna Gaffney. She is proceeded in death by her husband of 50 years, William James, as well as her brother, James Gaffney. Marilyn and William relocated to Miami from the Boston area in 1956 where they raised six children, William Jr. (Denise) of Mechanicsville, VA, Thomas of Ormond Beach, Brian of Hollywood, Sean (Caren) of Fort Lauderdale, Terrence of Germantown, TN and Patricia Ludington (Donald), Palm Harbor. In 1981, they moved to Safety Harbor and later settled in Clearwater. At the time of her passing, Marilyn was a proud grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, with another due in March. She retired from Burdines Department Stores after 25 years of service. Marilyn was an extremely strong, yet compassionate woman. Her selfless life completely revolved around taking care of her big Irish family. Her face was always adorned with a beautiful smile, accompanied by a lovingly sarcastic sense of humor. She will be missed immensely. The family would like to express their gratitude to Lisa Rose and her staff at Sonadora of Dunedin, who loved and cared for Marilyn these past few years.

I am so sad to hear of Marilyn's passing. She was a mother figure in my life for about 39 years. Marilyn was a person with a beautiful soul and an amazing smile. She will be missed by so many. My thoughts and prayers for her family.
