She is predeceased by husband Bob, sister Mil, parents Bernard and Mildred O'Connell, and many other family members and friends.
In addition to her brother, Rodger (Vicki) O'Connell, she is survived by her five children -- Diane Frush, David Herbst, Christy (Bob) Dine, Gail Shipley and Paul (Lori) Herbst. Grandchildren -- Chad, Jenny, Katie, Nick, Matt and Emily. Great Grandchildren -- Jonathan, Cailey, Cadey, Everett, Luna, Emma and Livi.
As well as raising five children, Marilyn worked outside the home in several capacities. Most of her career was spent in the school systems in and around Chicago in an administrative role. She enjoyed spending time with friends, knitting, sewing, counted cross stitch (specializing in Christmas stockings for every new member of the family), traveling - especially cruising, playing golf with the 9-holers, volunteering at the library, reading, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and doing Grandma and GG things. She was a huge Notre Dame fan, even traveling to Ireland to see a game.
Thanks to all the neighbors and staff at Coral Oaks Senior Living for their friendship and support during her last few years.
A service will be held at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home in Clearwater, Florida at 10am on Tuesday, October 6th. Visitation will be one half hour before the service. Interment at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park.
